World Humanitarian Relief and Development Organization (WHRDO)

ABOUT US

World Humanitarian Relief and Development Organization (WHRDO) is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political, and non-partisan humanitarian organization working to improve the lives of crisis-affected and vulnerable communities.

WHRDO was founded in June 2019 in Ethiopia as a youth-led community. In recognition of its expanding mandate and multi-sectoral approach, the organization was formally registered on 10 June 2024 (Registration No. 7317) with the Charities and Societies Agency of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

OUR MISSION

  • The organization’s mission is to reduce vulnerability and improve livelihoods for crisis-affected populations—particularly refugees, women, children, and youth—by strengthening resilience, restoring dignity, and fostering sustainable development.

WHRDO’s work is guided by a set of core values that shape our identity and daily operations

*    Humanity:  We serve all people with compassion, respect, and dignity, regardless of background.

  • Integrity: We uphold transparency and accountability, building trust with communities, partners, and donors.
  • Sustainability: We design programs that last, reducing dependency and strengthening resilience.
  • Collaboration: We partner with governments, NGOs, and local communities to maximize impact.
  • Equity: We prioritize marginalized groups — women, youth, and displaced populations — ensuring inclusive development.
  • Innovation: We apply creative.

OUR VISSION

  • WHRDO envisions a world where communities can recover from shocks, protect their natural environment, and achieve resilient and sustainable development.

WHRDO is guided by a set of core values that shape everything we do:

  • Humanity reminds us that every person deserves compassion, respect, and dignity. Whether we are delivering food in an emergency or supporting farmers with new techniques, we put people first.
  • Integrity ensures that we remain transparent and accountable to the communities we serve, our partners, and our donors. Trust is the foundation of our work.
  • Sustainability pushes us to design programs that last — from irrigation systems that transform arid land into fertile fields, to education initiatives that empower the next generation.
  • Collaboration reflects our belief that no single organization can solve these challenges alone. We work hand-in-hand with local communities, governments, and international partners to maximize impact.
  • Equity drives us to prioritize those most at risk — women, youth, and displaced populations — ensuring that development is inclusive and fair.
  • Innovation inspires us to seek creative, evidence-based solutions to complex problems, adapting to changing realities with agility and foresight.
  • Peace & Cohesion remind us that sustainable development cannot exist without harmony. We invest in dialogue, reconciliation, and unity among diverse communities
