ABOUT US
World Humanitarian Relief and Development Organization (WHRDO) is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political, and non-partisan humanitarian organization working to improve the lives of crisis-affected and vulnerable communities.
WHRDO was founded in June 2019 in Ethiopia as a youth-led community. In recognition of its expanding mandate and multi-sectoral approach, the organization was formally registered on 10 June 2024 (Registration No. 7317) with the Charities and Societies Agency of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
From its early beginnings as a self-funded grassroots initiative, WHRDO has steadily expanded its reach from three local areas to more than ten intervention areas across two woredas. The organization delivers humanitarian relief and development programs that address food insecurity, education, health, livelihoods, and climate-related vulnerabilities. Currently, aims to extend its intervention locations in all parts of the world at all contents.
To date, over 3,340 community members have benefited from WHRDO’s interventions—70% women and girls and 29% men and boys—demonstrating the organization’s strong commitment to gender equity, poverty alleviation, and resilience building for communities affected by climate stress and crisis.
WHRDO was established to respond to urgent humanitarian needs while also addressing the root causes of vulnerability. The organization combines immediate humanitarian assistance with long-term development solutions, grounded in community participation, local ownership, and sustainable impact.
Since its establishment in 2019 as community based organization, WHRDO implements integrated programs across:

- WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene)

- Education
- Livelihoods and income generation
